Snapmaker

U1

Up to 4 toolheads, whole-toolhead exchange

Our photograph of this machine goes here. We only show photos of units we have in front of us.

Overview

A four-toolhead CoreXY toolchanger with a 270 mm cube build volume and an optional top cover for engineering materials.

The U1 swaps complete toolheads, each with its own nozzle and filament. Snapmaker calls the system SnapSwap and quotes five seconds per swap with the heads preheated.

It ships open. Snapmaker says ABS, ASA, nylon and polycarbonate need the optional top cover, and fiber-filled filaments also need a hardened nozzle.

What we haven't checked yet

  • Whether a real swap, including priming and wiping, comes close to the quoted five seconds.
  • How much material each change wastes.
  • Tool-to-tool alignment over a long job.
  • How the top cover changes results with ABS and ASA.
