About

3D Tool Changers is run by Kato, who makes 3D printing videos as TechMakesArt.

Last updated October 6, 2026

Toolchangers are expensive, and most of what you can read about them is either the manufacturer's spec sheet or a first impression from someone who had the machine for a week. Neither tells you what happens when two of them print the same file.

That's what this site is for. We buy or borrow the machines, run the same tests on each, and publish the numbers along with the photos, settings, and failures behind them, so you can check our work instead of taking our word for it.

Kato makes 3D printing videos as TechMakesArt. The videos show the machines at work; this site is where the full results live.

How this site is paid for

Some links to stores may become affiliate links, which pay us a commission if you buy. Manufacturers may also lend or give us hardware. Both are disclosed where they happen, and neither changes a result. The details are on our disclosures page.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know. Corrections are made openly: the page shows what changed and when, and retests sit beside the original results rather than replacing them.
