Up to 5 toolheads, whole-toolhead exchange

Overview

We don't have this printer. Everything on this page comes from the manufacturer, with a source for each fact. See the machines we're testing.

The second-generation Prusa XL: a 360 mm CoreXY toolchanger with up to five toolheads, launched in August 2026.

Each XL+ toolhead is a complete Nextruder with its own extruder, hotend and nozzle. The gantry parks and picks up whole toolheads, and parked heads stay preheated. A new electronic sensor calibrates toolhead offsets automatically, replacing the original XL's mechanical pin.

Prusa says it prints 10–15% faster than the original XL but publishes no absolute speed or acceleration. The chamber reaches 50 °C only with the optional XL+ Enclosure, and 60 °C with an external heater that Prusa lists as an upcoming add-on. The new enclosure does not fit the original XL.
